Hi! My name is Clarice (she/her) and I’m a sophomore at Carnegie Mellon taking Communication Design Fundamentals this spring semester.

Effective design example- Care/of vitamins

I found this an example of easy, effective communications design firstly of its visual organization. The different sizes and color for text makes the information jumps out by hierarchy of information.

Though there is clear aesthetic coherence between each vitamin description, the different backgrounds that contrast the color of the supplements themselves helps consumers differentiate between each supplement and even better remember/differentiate them through color associations.

Ineffective design example- push doors with handles

I chose a door with “push” signs on them to better illustrate the point, but push doors with handles are extremely inconvenient and ineffective in its design. Because the door design is so simplistic, the handle is largely the only visual cue that communicates to any user. With push doors that are handles, this singular message is wrong.
